Health monitoring system using renewable energy
Civil engineering structures such as bridges experience daily moving loads due to vehicle traffic, and deterioration due to exposure from forces of nature and varying conditions of the environment. These factors lead to the degradation of the bridge’s structural performance and impair its integrity and serviceability if timely inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation are not performed. A damage detection algorithm is proposed, utilizing wireless sensor networks that is powered by renewable energy.
