speed measurement using photogates

Display
Two photogates are spaced some definite distance(1~2 cm) apart.
Then a particle will pass through the gates. The passing time interval will be measured and displayed in 3 digits with unit of msec.
Operation
(1) Both counter and display are initially resetted by pushing RESET button.
(2) Once a particle passes the primary gate, it will open the GATE circuit and start counting.
(3) After a particle moves a definite distance and passes the secondary photogate, GATE circuit will be shut off and counted time will be displayed.
