Degree Titles

The program of ‘Architecture and Building Engineering’ delivered by School of Architecture & Coastal Engineering at College of Industry-University Convergence Engineering (hereinafter, College of Engineering), Kunsan National University offers both ‘Accredited program’ satisfying the accreditation criteria of ABEEK and ‘Non-accredited program’ for architectural and building engineering. The accredited program was established by reorganizing the four-year Architectural Engineering program and has delivered since 2004. The accredited architectural engineering program consists of four detailed majors, Construction architecture, Architectural environment and facility, Building materials and construction, and Architectural planning and design. Students who satisfy all the requirements of the accredited program receive a ‘Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture and Building Engineering’ degree, while the students who have completed only the non-accredited program receive a ‘Bachelor of Engineering.’

Program Delivery Modes

The accredited program of Architecture and Building Engineering has two semesters, Spring and Fall, and each semester consists of 15 weeks. Most of the courses are delivered through lectures and practices in the classrooms, design labs, and experiment labs. During the vacations of Junior and Senior years, especially, industrial internship courses are offered for four or more weeks at a company.

Program History

The department of architectural engineering was established in 1994, and received the initial ABEEK accreditation evaluation in 2006. In 2014, School of social and environmental design engineering was established by combining the Departments of Architectural Engineering, Coastal Engineering and Residential Interior Design and a new curriculum was developed for the combined school. In 2017, according to the PRIME project funded by the Ministry of Education, the previous school was reformed to School of Architecture & Coastal Engineering at College of industry-university convergence engineering, and the program of Architecture & Building engineering is the only accredited program in the school.
